The Challenge.

The firm had grown rapidly to become a global player in the business analytics market. Many leaders were from a technical background and most had little in the way of formal leadership development. As a consequence, the firm comprised multiple subcultures, patchy levels of performance, employee engagement and retention.

We’d been running hard on growth and integrations: systems, processes, structure. But in the push, we didn’t pay enough attention to people and culture. The cracks were showing, especially in retention. For us, the priority became clear: establish a consistent leadership culture across the firm.

Our Approach.

We partnered with the CHRO and Director of Learning and Development to build a 6 month leadership program that was high on impact, low on time commitment and that could be delivered virtually. Our solution was for entry level to mid-level leaders.

What we did:

Built a modular program that was delivered virtually to a population of up to 200 leaders across the firm. Participants could self-select which modules were most relevant to them based on pre-program 360 feedback. Each module followed a similar format and involved online pre-work (e,g. a case study, video, self assessment), a virtual 2.5 hour module and post-module peer coaching

The program was organized into 3 focus areas:

  1. Leading Self – Manager Foundations, Managing Yourself, Effective Communication Skills, Resilience
  2. Leading Others – Leading Remote Teams, Influence, Managing Difficult Conversations, Conflict Resolution
  3. Leading for Performance: Creating a High-Performance Culture, Driving Organizational Change, Business Acumen (led by Chief Commercial Officer), Financial Acumen (led by CFO)

From the US to Australia, leaders came together virtually to build both skills and community. Because the program was voluntary, we ensured every session delivered practical value, led by consultants seasoned in executive development.

The Impact.

Over six months, participation remained high and feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Three out of four leaders said they were applying the learning directly in their roles, with many pointing to greater confidence and tangible improvements in their teams’ performance.
